Our Croad Langshan chicks hatch in blue, black, and splash! We love our beautiful Langshan’s and they are a customer Favorite ❤️ These rare heritage birds are raised to UK Standard specifications and known for their excellent temperament—roosters are gentle giants, and hens are remarkably sweet-natured.
The hens produce large light brown eggs, some adorned with a distinctive pink, lavender, or plum bloom, sometimes featuring delicate plum speckles. While the unique underlying color remains, the special bloom typically fades within days. We mark bloom-covered eggs with a heart symbol and collect the most vibrant specimens during spring and early summer, though they appear less frequently as the season progresses.
Our bloodline comes directly from Judy Gaines in Ohio and I‘ve also added lines from Spectrum Poultry , just to learn her birds also came from the same place ! Lol
These hardy birds thrive in both harsh cold and hot temperatures. Fertility is regularly monitored and consistently excellent!

PLEASE READ : Things nobody told me when I started with Croad Langshan’s years ago. So here’s some real talk for anyone considering this beautiful breed:
🩷First Tip: They are LARGE birds, and I mean it. Don’t mix them with smaller breeds like Cream Legbars, Ameraucanas, or 55 Flowery Hens etc. Your Croad Langshan roosters will break the smaller hens’ backs during mating. (Ask me how I know).
🩷Second Tip: Keep their roosting boards LOW. I’m serious about this one. These heavy birds will injure their legs jumping down from high roosts—we’re talking permanent, crippling injuries.
🩷Third Tip: Feed chick starter way longer than you think—months, even up to a year. They’re growing massive frames and need that extra protein and minerals, especially for bone and leg development. If you see them sitting around more than standing, that’s your red flag. After a year, I switch to 18% gamebird breeder feed and they get this year round.
🩷Fourth Tip: Croad Langshans don’t really forage much. Or not as much as i would like! Lol They stick close to the feeder, and they eat A LOT. If you want chickens scratching around your yard all day, this probably isn’t your breed.
But are they still worth it? Absolutely! They’re truly beautiful birds. They are Very Rare and in fact to my knowledge I believe there are only two of us offering them in the whole country ! The roosters are absolute gentlemens and the hens are sweethearts. 🌸🩷
While this may cost me a sale, I feel it’s important for you to have this information before buying. Despite having four negatives against them, the positives far outweigh them. I hope this information helps!
