AMISH (WEAVER FAMILY) HEIRLOOM (200+ YEAR OLD) SOURDOUGH STARTER
AMISH (WEAVER FAMILY) HEIRLOOM (200+ YEAR OLD) SOURDOUGH STARTER
This heritage starter will produce delicious and gorgeous bread, and it has a story that goes back to the 1800s!
You will receive 70g to 80g of fresh starter in a small glass jar. It will either be a YELLOW jar or an ORANGE jar as pictured above. My jars are all color coded that is how I know which sourdough starter is which.
I have a long and close relationship with members of the Amish community throughout my entire life even when I was 14 years old. Particularly the Weaver and Martin Family.
The story is that this family heirloom was used in an Amish bakery since 1850. And not only that, but the founder of the Amish bakery also had the starter in her family for 40 + years before opening the bakery. This means that we traced this Amish sourdough starters history directly back to 1811!
I've been lovingly feeding and nurturing that same starter for years. Not only does it make a wonderful sourdough bread, but it has a sentimental value. Growing up around them has taught me a lot and I often reflect on that teaching. It truly was a beautiful gift and now I want to share this gift to you.
PLEASE NOTE ( I USE ONLY ORGANIC FLOUR IN ALL MY SOURDOUGH STARTERS)
